What an exciting time to be transitioning into this career as a licensed intern! I absolutely love being a supervisor, and have been supervising NV CPC and MFT interns since 2019. I believe the supervisor-supervisee relationship is exceptionally important. This relationship between us will become a lifelong connection and friendship as you go on to become a fully licensed therapist and colleague. But, to complete your internship in 2 years, you need ~13 hours of supervision per month...so we will be spending a lot of time together!
Here is a bit about me: Diana Saunders, MFT and the other Providers at Elements of Motivation: https://elementslv.com/our-providers
If you like what you see here, I would love to review your resume and schedule a video interview with you to ensure that we are a good fit and to better understand your goals and needs. Please email your resume to me at diana@elementslv.com.
As an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, my supervision approach is systemic, collaborative, reflective, and strengths-based, aiming to help you become a capable and ethical therapist. The key to this process is building a respectful, trusting, and supportive supervisory relationship. We will focus on helping you develop your theoretical perspective, clinical hypotheses, treatment strategies, and intervention skills. My supervision approach is modeled after solution-focused and family systems therapies...and lots of curiosity and unconditional positive regard :)
Initially, supervision focuses primarily on cases to ensure quality treatment for clients. Over time, the emphasis on cases is balanced with skill development. When appropriate, the focus of supervision is the interaction of the personal and professional, identifying how and when “person-of-the-therapist” and personal family history has the potential to impact your work with clients.
Supervisees must be aware of their emotional processes, counter-transference, and person-of-the-therapist issues. They should disclose any personal medical problems, substance use, or mental health concerns. Individual therapy is recommended for self-care, and I may require it if these issues affect clinical work. Supervision can address some issues but is not a substitute for therapy.
Interns billing 10+ EOM client hours/week receive supervision at no cost :) 15+ EOM client hours/week at EOM covers both Primary & Secondary Supervision costs.
As you build up to billing 10+ EOM client hours/week the cost is:
If a private practice prevents you from building to 10+ EOM client hours/week in the first 90 days, your weekly individual supervision rate will match your private client cash rate during weeks you don't bill 10+ EOM client hours/week. If you leave EOM or consistently drop below 10 EOM client hours/week due to other employment demands and can no longer meet the minimum expectations of Primary Supervision, our relationship may end and will be discussed as the occasion arises.
Changes in supervision frequency or type do not affect your weekly fee and depend on supervisor-supervisee discussions. The supervisor may reinstate individual supervision anytime due to clinical or ethical concerns. See details below for individual vs. group supervision frequency.
